Ian Taylor

Career

Ian is an academic and consultant who conducts research into various aspects of economic and social topics, with a specific interest in regional economic development, cross-sector collaboration, and the policy and practice of responsible business.

Ian has worked at multiple prestigious universities, including several years leading research at the University of Oxford. Ian has held fellowships at the Blavatnik School of Government and at the University of Manchester’s Alliance Business School. Currently an Associate at the City-Region Economic Development Institute (City-Redi) based at the Department of Strategy and International Business at the University of Birmingham, Ian’s academic work builds on a decade of commercial and technical management roles in the energy industry.

Ian was awarded the 2008 Cameron Prize from the University of Glasgow and lectures on the topic of innovation in public management at Kings College London.

He is currently working on the research project ‘AI investment in the defence industry: prospects for fine-tune training and data sharing’ at The Productivity Institute.
