Leunig’s academic journey has seen him hold faculty positions at institutions such as the London School of Economics (LSE) and Oxford University, as well as holding visiting Professorships in the US and Europe. Within government, he served as chief analyst in the Department of Education, and as Economic Advisor to the Chancellor, among other roles. He invented the UK furlough scheme, which saved millions of jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
