Career

Kieron’s early research was on innovation in knowledge intensive business services (KIBS) and creative services, but most of his work has been in the areas of science, technology and innovation policy. He has published conceptual and empirical work on a range of STI policy topics and has worked extensively with, and advised, international, national and regional/local policy-makers. He’s also an active commentator on STI and economic development policy issues, and is regularly quoted in a range of publications. He was formerly a contributing co-editor of the Guardian newspaper’s ‘Political Science‘ science policy blog and still occasionally posts at the blog’s new home on the Research Professional website.

Kieron is academic lead for the North West Regional Productivity Forum, Associate Director for Research Impact and Knowledge Exchange at the Alliance Manchester Business School, and a member of the management committee of the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research.
